Wellington – A national magazine ranked Wellington among the top 10 places in the United States where families – especially multigenerational families – live.

The study selected one city in each U.S. state where multigenerational families — parents raising their own children while also caring for their parents — were more likely to have access to key resources, community support and financial well-being.
The magazine ranked Wellington above all other Florida communities, citing its schools and assisted living facilities, as well as its proximity to hospitals, shopping centers and the amenities the West Palm Beach area offers.
“A paradise for equestrian lovers, Wellington offers the flair for horses and the joys of coastal living,” the study said.

Which cities are best for multigenerational families living in the US?
Fortune Well—an offshoot of the US bimonthly magazine Fortune—evaluated nearly 1,900 cities across the country with about 20,000 residents that offer quality amenities with a “hometown feel.” The study considered five categories: education, aging resources, general health, financial health and livability.
The study focused on multigenerational families and considered factors that challenged this group, such as school completion rates, affordability of nearby colleges, availability of high-quality nursing homes, assisted living communities and home health care agencies, risk of social isolation Among older residents and their access to reliable healthcare providers.

Jennifer Fields, Fortune’s health editor, said the company only released a list last year of the 25 places best equipped to support multigenerational families, no matter where they are located.
“This year, as part of FORTUNE’s ongoing commitment to empowering our readers to meet them where they are, we decided to showcase 50, giving working professionals a sense of where their families can be,” Fields wrote. Get the best support, no matter which state they live in.”
What makes Wellington the best city in Florida for families?
Fortune praised Wellington for its equestrian activities, grounds and riding trails, as well as its location 16 miles inland from West Palm Beach and 25 minutes from the coast.
Residents can also play golf at the multiple golf courses in and around the village, bask in the sun at the 30-acre Peaceful Waters Sanctuary and take part in family activities at Wellington Park, the magazine said.
It added that the village is a short drive for residents to luxury retail along Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, fishing from the Lake Worth pier and swimming at Palm Beach’s public beaches.

Here are some of the factors that make Wellington No. 1 in Florida and No. 8 nationally for multigenerational living:
- The village has become increasingly diverse, with an increasing number of black, Asian and especially Hispanic residents.
- Almost 90 percent of students in the district graduate high school.
- More than a third of regional schools ranked “above average” compared to national schools.
- There are 10 hospitals within a 25 mile radius.
- There are 19 above average nursing homes within 50 miles.
Mayor Anne Gerwig said Wellington offered residents an unusual family lifestyle, with activities, services and programs specially designed for children and the elderly.
“It’s refreshing to see young families still moving here for that quality of life,” Gerwig said. “We need to keep that happening.”
