Welcome to Sac State Magazine’s 75th Anniversary special edition


We are proud to welcome you to the Sacramento State 75th Anniversary Special Edition of Sac State Magazine.

The magazine’s latest issue commemorates, highlights and celebrates the University’s journey from its founding as Sacramento State College in 1947 to its current status as the sixth largest of CSU’s 23 campuses. Approximately 31,000 students are enrolled at Sacramento State University, with a record 9,574 eligible graduates for this year’s commencement ceremony.

This edition features stories about student, faculty and alumni success; updates on key programs, centers and initiatives; an article on the historic recent performance of the Hornets football team; President Robert S. Nelsen and a 96-year-old alumnus of the Class of 1957, Robert S. Nelsen, will retire in July after leading the University for eight years.
