The very merry Christmas voyage returns to Disney Cruise Line in November and December 2023 with all-new entertainment and products. This post shares all the news, as well as quick thoughts on our last experience during the holiday special.

According to DCL, the 2023 Christmas Blissful Hours cruise will bring back even more of its guests’ favorite cruises, while adding two new entertainment experiences, characters in joyous new costumes, fun-filled activities for the whole family, and a well-thought-out Design of decorative and themed food and beverage items. The high seas will be in the holiday spirit later this year on these limited-time voyages from Disney Cruise Line.

Adults and children alike will discover the wonders of vacation at sea in 2023 with very festive Christmas cruises from Texas, Florida and California with Disney Cruise Line. Disney Magic will sail holiday cruises to Baja and the Mexican Riviera from San Diego before wrapping up the season in Galveston, Texas for the Western Caribbean.

The Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy, also from Florida, will continue sailing from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas and Caribbean.

If you’re setting sail on one of these very jolly cruise ships in Christmas 2023, here’s what new additions you can expect to experience on board…

New Tree Lighting Ceremony – On the first night of all Very Merrytime sailings, you can gather around the three-deck-high tree in the ship’s atrium for a brand new tree lighting ceremony.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Goofy will invite your family to sing along to classic holiday songs, followed by a countdown that will not only brighten up the Christmas tree but also introduce the ship’s VIPs.

“Decorate” the Hall at Mickey and Minnie’s Holiday Party – This new deck party is another brand new Christmas 2023 experience on Very Merrytime’s signature voyage and will invite your family to the upper deck for a one-of-a-kind celebration at sea, filled with joyful messages.

Hosted by Mickey and Minnie, favorite Disney friends celebrate friendship, love and family with a fresh mix of classic and original holiday songs at this high-energy deck party.

In addition to these new entertainment offerings, Disney Cruise Line’s decks and lobbies will be filled with holiday decorations and holly boughs from bow to stern during the extraordinarily festive Christmas cruise.

On these seasonal cruises, guests will also find characters in new holiday costumes, themed “Happy Hour” events for the whole family, festive carols with modern versions of songs, souvenir merchandise and festive food and beverages.

It’s never too early to start planning Next Christmas and Disney Cruise Line have also confirmed that the holiday magic of Happy Hour cruises will also be returning as part of the just-announced late 2024 itinerary.

From mid-November to December 2024, you’ll be able to enjoy the best time of the year with Disney cruises from two Florida homeports, as well as select cruises departing from Galveston, Texas .

Both Florida homeports will offer short-term vacations, including the Disney Wish 3- and 4-night Bahamas Great Fun cruise from Port Canaveral, and the 4-night Bahamas and Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale. Night and 5 night cruises. Disney dream. The Disney Fantasy will begin a variety of four-night fun sailings to the Bahamas, as well as longer 6- and 7-night itineraries in November and late December.

Disney Magic cruises from Galveston range from four to six nights, giving your family the chance to celebrate the holidays together while visiting tropical ports throughout the Caribbean.

Speaking of new for 2024, select voyages on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy will include a day in the sun during the holiday season along the white-sand beaches of Disney Cruise Line’s newest destination, Beacon Point. Located on Eleuthera Island in Lighthouse Point, this vibrant beach resort will be a unique celebration of Bahamian culture, brought to life with the quality and service of a Disney Vacation.

Next year’s very festive Christmas cruises will almost certainly have more. Disney Treasure, the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, will set sail in 2024. We’re still waiting for more details on the ship, but suspect DCL will give the current ship a few months to fill out its late 2024 itinerary before the big reveal. Regardless, Disney Treasure should offer a very jolly Christmas voyage next year too.

In terms of reviews, we’ve done a Christmas cruise on a Disney cruise line before and it was a bit underwhelming. (see our Very Merry Christmas Cruise Review.) At least, it is then. It was the culmination of our Christmas season, which included exciting new additions to Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disney Resort. In comparison, Very Merrytime’s offering was a bit disappointing.

However, looking at all of Sarah’s photos and hearing her take on Halloween on the high seas last year made me itching to give the Very Merrytime cruise a second chance. (And also went on a Halloween cruise, since I wasn’t invited and/or declined my invitation last year.) So, we’re going to do these for Christmas 2023…until life has other plans for us.

Not that you care, but we’ll actually be on a Mediterranean Greek Islands cruise Now Celebrating our Anniversary – book with a discounted cancellation on a scheduled Disney Wish cruise.

No complaints here – we’d sit at home and do any of these cruises in a heartbeat, especially if it wasn’t.Now we can join the Very Merrytime Christmas 2024 cruise in groups of 3 on a brand new boat and Research activities for young children. Win-win!

But I digress. It can be a matter of unrealistic expectations when it comes to our first and only really merry Christmas cruise to date. My memories of the very jolly Christmas cruise got better as time went on – rereading my review today sounds pretty harsh compared to what I remembered!

Ultimately, we’re excited to give Very Merrytime Cruises a second chance, and we’re excited to see Disney Cruise Line confirm it’s returning this year and Christmas 2024. We’re definitely “overlooking” our own experiences and bookings for next year, hopefully on brand new Disney treasures. While pricing might bring that dream back to reality, we might find ourselves in a cheaper old ship!
