When you think of Jane Ramseyer Miller and her 27 years as Art Director at One Voice Mixed Chorus, that’s the first word that describes her.

Given her educational background—Master of Music in Choral Conducting and BA in Psychology—you can see a pattern that Ramseyer Miller has leveraged in everything she’s accomplished with OneVoice. The themes of each concert cycle reflect a deeper meaning, exploring what it means to be LGBTQ+.

Since arriving in the Twin Cities in 1988, Ramseyer Miller has been busy. Get busy creating, bring people together, make them sing. And, what a beautiful piece of music comes from the sounds she puts together.

After his retirement, Ramseyer Miller continued as Artistic Director of the GALA Choir. In fact, she is already very busy. “I have a busy next 14 months as artistic director of the GALA Choral Festival, which will be held in Minneapolis in July 2024,” explains Ramseyer Miller. “My role was to plan, schedule and manage close to 200 concerts over 5 days. We will be holding 3 simultaneous stages in the Orchestra Hall, Convention Center and Central Lutheran Church. Did I mention we expect 6-7,000 A queer singer coming to our beautiful city for this festival? We’ll be looking for a lot of local volunteers, so keep an eye out for this opportunity.”

To guide the community to raise their voices, Lavender Magazine Congratulations to Jane Ramseyer Miller for receiving this year’s Community Award.
