Jude Bellingham has completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid.
The England midfielder is set to sign a six-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, making him the country’s most expensive player if the deal rises to £115million including add-ons.
Real Madrid will pay an initial fee of £88.5million for Bellingham, who will appear as a Real Madrid player in a presentation at 11am on Thursday.
Bellingham left Dortmund after three seasons and was named Bundesliga Player of the Year in his most recent campaign.
In a farewell statement on Dortmund’s website, Bellingham said: “Thank you to everyone at BVB and to the fans for everything they have done over the past three years.
“It has been an honor to wear your shirt many times in big moments and moments. As much as I look forward to my next destination, I will never forget the journey there. Once Borussia, always Borussia. Best wishes All the best for the future.”
Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke added: “We thank Jude for his passion for Dortmund over the past three years. We have had a great time together.
“We would also like to thank Real Madrid for the always fair and constructive discussions.”
Where is Bellingham’s position at Real Madrid?
As Bellingham was at his peak during the World Cup in England, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti had his say on his ranking as one of the best young midfielders in the world.
“Bellingham is one of them,” said the Italian. “But I will stick with my midfielders, they are fantastic, especially the youngsters.”
It’s a reminder that while Bellingham is one of the most sought-after midfielders ahead of this summer’s transfer window, Real Madrid have a rich pedigree in the position.
So where does Bellingham fit in? Can he guarantee a place in Real Madrid’s starting XI?
