When I was a kid, I grew up with Essence Magazine. Covers featuring beautiful black celebrities, models, politicians and leaders grace the cover because it gives me a sense of belonging in the world. Each episode explores a different decade — from the ’70s to today — and features first-hand commentary on the era’s greatest moments from the icons, trailblazers, employees and leaders who lived and defined them. This candid commentary is combined with never-before-seen footage and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the worlds of entertainment, sports, politics, fashion and beauty.
