Colorado will open its 2023-24 athletics calendar with a piece of history.
On Thursday, less than a week after the NCAA Outdoor Athletics Championships 2022-23 calendar ended, CU announced the Buffaloes’ upcoming schedule for all of their fall games.
The Pac-12 announced its full rosters for women’s soccer and volleyball, while CU added men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf and women’s tennis to its fall schedule.
Buffalo’s first game of the 2023-24 season will be a historic one as CU women’s soccer takes on Northern Colorado on Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. at Prentup Field. It will be the first nighttime game in Prentup Field history to be played under the facility’s new lights, and it will be broadcast live from Pac-12 Hill.
The volleyball team emerges from the NCAA Tournament, hosts the annual Black and Gold Scrimmage on Aug. 19, and kicks off the regular season with two early home games. The Buffs kick off their eighth season under head coach Jesse Mahoney with the Buffs Invitational, held at the CU Events Center, against UNLV (7 p.m. Aug. 25), Campbell (6 p.m. Aug. 26) and North Carolina. After their date in Northern Colorado on Aug. 31, the Buffs will host the Colorado Classic, home to Xavier on Sept. 1 and Charlotte on Sept. 2. Colorado Volleyball will also play three games in the Wichita State Invitational, including a showdown against Kansas State (September 9) and a home series against Colorado State (September 14 at CU, 9 15 at CSU).
CU volleyball kicks off the Pac-12 with a game at home against Utah on Sept. 21.
CU football has played its first seven games at home, including a game on Aug. 27 against Michigan State, a second-rounder in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Prentup’s new lights will be put to good use as the Buffs have six scheduled home games in the evening — opener against UNC, Colorado College (August 24), North Carolina State (August 31), Pac -12 opener against perennial powerhouses UCLA (September 22), Stanford (Oct. 5) and Arizona State (Oct. 26).
The cross-country team will start the season Sept. 23 at the Virginia Invitational, which will host the NCAA Tournament in November.
