Beal’s start to mandatory minicamp was not without drama. Everyone was in attendance on Tuesday — minus one very important player.Star winger Steven Diggs did not participate in first day of training camp reports, head coach Sean McDermott told reporters he was “Very concerned” about the situation. But Diggs returned to practice on the field the next day, seemingly dispelling speculation that he might be frustrated with the organization.
Diggs’ agent, Adisa Bakari, previously addressed the situation late Tuesday (via ESPN). Bakari said Diggs had been in Buffalo since Monday morning, had a physical and even met with McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. Bacary said Diggs “will be there throughout minicamp.” He wasn’t on the field at all Tuesday.
According to CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, Diggs did show up at the team facility on Monday and Tuesday morning, but left before practice began. Whatever the reason for his absence has nothing to do with Diggs’ contract, per nfl media.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen told reporters after practice that the issue had nothing to do with football.
“I know we’re working on something internally. It’s nothing to do with football, but Steff, he’s my man,” Allen said. “I’m sorry my…I fucking love him. He’s my brother. This wouldn’t work, what we’re doing here, without him.
“But I will support him no matter what.”
When Allen was asked to elaborate that Diggs’ absence had nothing to do with football, he said:
“I mean I think it’s not just about football, that’s basically what I’m saying,” Allen said. “I think there are football movies, one, and then there are things that happen because of football. I’m going to stick with that.”

Diggs is coming off another monster season in which he completed 108 passes for 1,429 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns in 16 games.He accounts for 29 percent of the 2022 Bills’ receptions, tied for third-highest in the nation NFL last year.
Last season marked Diggs’ third time as a member of the Bills. In 49 career games for Buffalo, he ranks eighth in franchise history in receiving yards (4,189) and tied for sixth in receiving touchdowns (29).
Just last offseason, Diggs agreed Four-year, $104 million extension This includes a $70 million guarantee. Diggs is reported to have earned $24.415 million in 2023, including a $22.745 million signing bonus as part of the restructuring.
