Air & Space Forces Magazine Recognized for ‘Journalism Excellence’

Air Force & Space Force magazine’s 2022 10-part series featuring the history of every living former Air Force chief of staff was honored in the 2023 Dateline Excellence in Journalism Awards from the Association of Professional Journalists Washington, D.C. Won first place chapter in an industry publication series.

The magazine also named finalists in three other categories, according to SPJ, and the competition saw a record number of entries. “The range of outstanding journalism that occurs each year in the DC metro area is staggering,” said Denise Dunbar, chair of the SPJ’s DC Pro Chapter.

Published in print and online in August, September, October and November, the Chiefs Series tells the story of the Air Force from 1986 to 2020 through the eyes of 10 chiefs who have led the Air Force over 34 years.10 articles can be found here.

The magazine was also recognized as a finalist in the following categories:
